  • so please bear with me, here

there are a few xangans who've read the drivel I've spewed over this space for a little time now, and it's to them that I apologize for repeating myself.

All of the time spent labeling ourselves and each other is time wasted.  All of the time and energy we expend by being pissed off at each other and defending our points of view is also wasted.  Flushed, burnt, buried with a stake through its heart.  All of the fun-time we have devoted to our several pursuits is gone beyond redemption.  Every instance of choosing sides for the purpose of baiting or attacking someone we don't like or idea we disagree with is one more chance to prevent the avalanche.  We're about out of chances, kidlets.  The people we've trusted to make the right choices for us, our families, and for our futures have spoken and we're not on the guest list for their party.

No.  I'm not talking about Mr. Obama.  Not yet, anyway.  That could change, but I think it may not matter in any case.  I think the past two administrations will be shown by history to be "hardly unusual".  My gut tells me that had a bright light been shown on ANY administration of the past 100 - 150 years, it would appear shocking like that of G.W.B.  He, and even Mr Cheney, probably aren't anywhere nearly as "evil" as they've been made out to be, any more than the Great Floating Head that was the Wizard of Oz was made to appear more potently magical by the revelation of the man behind the curtain.  There really is an "American Dream", but I think it has been usurped by our own confusion between "the pursuit of happiness" and "being sold the definition of happiness".  I fine line, there.  Not.

So just when you think/hope that The Ride is over, it becomes evident that it ain't even got started yet.  Egad, this is going to be fun!

    Not.

    money warning

(that is depending upon how many are left to make the realization.)

my rambling has caught up with me!!

should sides be chosen?  certainly, they should!  But how important are those sides at the end of the day?  How about this: in the heyday preceding our economic woes, there was much ado about amassing retirement wealth, achieving "success", etc.  A tired saw to be sure, but what happened?  Can the cause be attributed to a single factor?  Maybe, but probably not.  For all of those who had been relatively sound after that big wing-ding but were subsequently wrung-out by the Madoff issue, it wasn't over because the Big Surprise hadn't been unwrapped yet.  Since then things have improved and deteriorated, swung up and down, all of that accompanied by hopeful whispers about everything evening out (finally) so we can go about rebuilding, etc.  But as optimistic as I naturally am, I'm not sure that much of anything is over yet.  I have no more financial resources than anyone who's out of work or bankrupt or both, so I'm a little nervous, too.  If I have anything in my favor, it's the puddle of goo that drifts back and forth between my ears.  In the end, that's all anyone has.  Some wait to be led, others want to lead, still others do what can be done with their own hands, feet, and puddle of goo.  After all, I think'd I'd rather get lost under my own power than get all cheesed off after I've learned that the skipper has been lost the whole time, too.

in paragraph 1 you say "don't take sides" and in paragraph 2 you post on politics. Nice try but I don't agree with your position on what you say about administrations so what are you trying to accomplish in this post>?

@Loonsounds - I mean to point out the futility of taking sides in arguments that serve little or no purpose, as when someone who is convinced of one particular side of an argument makes aggression on someone else who happens to disagree.  I hold this most strongly when the argument in question is of an intangible, like personal philosophy or religion, especially when the difference between the two is no more palpable than a preference for different flavors of ice cream.

My "politics" are my own, and my only purpose it to attempt to illustrate what I see and experience with the hopeful end of giving one other person a reason to question whatever it may be that they've taken for granted.  Not to change their mind, but only to invite them to reconsider a prejudice and perhaps to better understand themselves and how they might fit in the greater scheme.

I know my experiences and I know what I think I have learned from the people I've met.  I have that, and for me, it is enough.  In the time remaining until I have no further need of my eyes or ears they remain open.  I have that, too.

    Thanks for the visit!
